RULES OF COOPERATION
Motto:
Clara pacta faciunt amicos
In care of good relation with the clients, wanting to avoid any misunderstandings, I’ve worked out some “REGULATIONS”. In this matter I follow the idea of S.I. Witkiewicz’s portrait company, one of the greatest Polish artists of the XX century. Witkiewicz published the “Regulations” after some unpleasant experience with his clients, the artist points to the lack of possibility of making precise arrangements in the matter of something as faint as commissioned works of art. Because since then not much has changed between the commissioner and the artist I think that the rules in my “Regulations” are the best solution to a friendly, cultured and satisfactory cooperation.
REGULATIONS
Eryk Giermak – Art & Design
1. The actual cooperation between client and artist starts the moment the object of commission has been chosen, after that the estimated cost is established and an advance payment of at least 30% of the price of the work has been made. Afterward the artist starts work on the concept of the piece or the piece itself.
2. The artist presents the concept of the piece after a time necessary for its preparation. In case the client rejects the concept the advance payment is lost. This rule is introduced as work on the concept requires maximum intellectual effort form the artist.
3. After the client accepts the concept, the artist proceeds with the piece in a way he sees fit.
4. The client doesn’t change his attitude unless such a change is treated as commissioning a new piece instead of the old one. That means covering all previous expenses and 30% advance payment.
5. The client commissioning the work gives a correspondence address, at the same time it is stated that information being sent to that address is considered delivered. The artist is not obliged to look for the client under other addresses, phone numbers etc.
